Artist Preference

Anyone may apply for residency at Frogtown Family Lofts, but we have a rental preference for those income-qualified applicants who participate in and are committed to the arts, Applicants who meet the following criteria will have preferential status over those income-qualified applicants who do not participate or are committed to the arts.

Artist Criteria for Preferential Status

  1. Applicant should demonstrate that they have worked and are currently working towards specific artist goals in one (or more) of any variety of genres (fine art, dance, theatre, photography, writing, craft, music, spoken word, or graphic arts).
  2. Applicants should have a clear written statement of their artistic goals long term (over one year) and short term, and how they plan to achieve them.
  3. Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to pursuing their art form. The applicant should also be able to prove a previous commitment to the art form (one cannot say that they are “going to take up their art again” once they have been accepted).
  4. Applicants must come to the interview with a body of work (minimum 10-12 pieces with some common relationship or theme). No work should be over one year old. All work should be presented in a professional manner – presentation counts!
  5. Applicants must be able to articulate some of the concerns, themes, or ideas behind their body of work.
  6. Applicants should be aware that they will be requested to exhibit their current work at least once a year at FFLAC shows.
